Keeping Up With The Jones’

One of my favourite things about photographing families, is when they come back! This is the Jones family 🙂 and they have been coming for photos since little George was a newbie!!

We’ve done bushland and this time they opted for this city car park. This car park is a favourite photography location of mine for a few reasons…it’s easy! Easy to access and easy parking haha…the sun sets in the right spot to overlook part of the CBD of Toowoomba and it’s something a bit fun and different. I actually love that sometimes it gets a bit windy because movement in your hair, your dress….it just adds ‘oomph’ to the images. It makes you ‘feel’ the images even more…

Can we take a moment for Kerry’s outfit planning!!

The perfect Autumn colours for a perfect Autumn shoot…The tones all work together and everybody is comfortable. When it comes to outfit planning – I say, start with Mum…then pick out tones from her outfit to dress everyone else…See how Kerry’s gorgeous floral two piece works perfectly with the rest of the family. Penny wearing a tone of yellow that works in perfectly with Mum’s Autumnal dress. Dad wearing neutral/earthy/autumn tones and little George in a soft blue and earthy tones…it all work in perfectly with what Mum is wearing. You could probably find each of those colours in the floral pattern of her outfit.

All of the colours here work in with each other to create cohesion. You don’t have to ‘match’…wear all the texture, patterns and/or layers! What matters, is that your outfits work together, that everyone is comfortable and all in the same tones… This family, for example are all in beautiful autumn/earthy tones.

The reason I think it’s important to be intentional around outfits, is that you want to be cohesive. You don’t want what you’re wearing to compete or have one person stand for the wrong reasons. I encourage people to avoid block black or big logos or bold prints. You don’t want to have competing colours or patterns. The idea is to be comfortable and cohesive.

Now…families…have you been putting off booking the photoshoot?

Let me tell you…You will never regret capturing these fleeting moments with your family. Your babes are growing up so fast, and that is particularly real in 2023… our world is SO busy…it’s important to take time to slow down, to enjoy them….to take the photos! Your kids will look back at these times and it’s your stories and the photos you’ve got that will help them hold onto those precious childhood memories.

Think about it… Do you have photos from your childhood that you love to look back on? When you visit family, do you love to look at the photos on the walls or in their photo albums? I certainly do… I LOVE visiting my Mum and seeing all our childhood memories on her walls. You will NEVER regret investing in photos…

Rest assured that I will be supporting you all the way through. From your first enquiry, through the outfit and location planning and on the day….I will guide you.

And don’t worry about your kids behaviour! If they don’t stand still…I just follow them around haha….I will encourage you all to enjoy each other, to help each other laugh and to pause on this time in your lives…leave the stress and the worry for another day, because it doesn’t belong at your photoshoot..I have kids…I LOVE working with kids so I genuinely enjoy the challenge of capturing their true essence. I will guide you into real moments of fun with your babes. I promise it will be more fun than you’re anticipating…

So…have I convinced you to book the shoot yet?
